Gustavo Machado

Gustavo Machado is an award-winning designer and educator with over 17 years of experience in print and new media. His diverse background encompasses corporate identity projects, advertising campaigns, Web Design, online/offline presentations, and direct marketing assignments. Throughout his professional life Gustavo worked for many industries, from B2B to entertainment, including clients such as Carlsberg, Compaq, IBM, Microsoft, Siemens, Sony, Time Warner. Gustavo had also the privilege to work with some of the best communication companies in the market including DDB, Mc Cann Erickson, J. Walter Thompson, and Ogilvy. His work has been featured in over 16 books around the globe.

From an educational perspective, Gustavo holds a BFA in Advertising and is currently pursuing a MFA in Graphic Design with emphasis on social and sustainable design initiatives. Based on those premises, he highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary work to shape our future. Professionals must be prepared to work as members of multidisciplinary teams in order to solve the complex problems existing in our contemporary world. Facing and handling these new challenges represents the epitome of his approach employed at several schools in Canada, including The Art Institute of Toronto, Humber College, The University of Toronto, Centennial College, OCAD, and now, the Rich Media Institute.
