The Full Live 8 course bundle is a comprehensive learning platform, geared to bring users from a foundational knowledge of the program to a highly developed ability to produce, perform, and even create their own instruments, effects, and more with Live. This bundle includes the following courses, available separately:
The Live 8 Basic Course is designed to provide new and familiar Ableton users with a foundational knowledge of all aspects of the program, including its two views, Session and Arrangement. A focus is given to clips – the building blocks of Live – which can contain a wide range of musical information, from full songs to short loops. The course goes through the process of warping files, setting up a Live set, recording a Live set and editing it as a song. The aim is for the techniques covered to be applied in studio production, live performance, DJing or remixing – whichever reflects the users' needs most. The Live 8 Advanced Course introduces a number of powerful Live features that have potent applications both on stage and in the studio. Covering non-destructive sound design, clip automation, signal flow, and launch actions while taking an in-depth look at Ableton's included instruments, the aim is to provide the ability to make Ableton do more work than ever for you in a live or DJ setting, and when producing or recording original material. The Live 8 Expert course takes a deeper look at Instrument, Audio Effect and MIDI Effect Racks, advanced clip automation, using third-party plug-ins and external gear, and creating generative music tools – as well as advanced mixing and editing techniques. Noah Pred has been making music in various forms for the past two decades. Working with hardware samplers, sequencers and synthesizers, he began performing live sets of techno, house and electro in the mid-nineties, and began DJing with vinyl soon after. After discovering Ableton Live 3 in 2003, Noah quickly adopted it for his live performances, and with version 4, Live became the centerpiece of his production studio. Noah has since toured North America and Europe with his unique tech-house sound, and has issued numerous releases on labels around the globe. He has taught a wide variety of techniques with Ableton Live for stage and studio over the past four years, including the past three at the Rich Media Institute in Toronto, where he continues to offer classes in addition to individualized one-on-one lessons.
