The Rich Media Institute was founded in 2005 to educate designers, developers and marketers in the rich media industry about the capabilities, software tools, best practices and technologies for the professional creation of digital media.

We work with some of the top expert instructors in the world to offer specialized training, online and at our facilities in Toronto and Los Angeles, as well as in other cities around the world. We strive to offer unique, high-quality content, in a convenient, affordable, and high-quality experience.

The RMI was founded by industry leading expert R Blank and his business partner, Markus Almer, President of Almer/Blank. The RMI trains developers and designers at the LA Flash Factory in Venice.

The Rich Media Institute of Canada was founded by industry leader Shawn Pucknell, Director of FITC, the largest series of international conferences based around Adobe Flash.

The Los Angeles location houses several user groups and community events, including LA Flash, LA AIR, LA Drupal, and the Los Angeles Interaction Design Assocation (IxDA).

The Toronto location offers Live in Class training within an arts-centric digital media building called Element 156, and also manages the international Live in Class courses. The Toronto location is also involved with community building through offering our facility, at cost or free of charge, to independent artist groups (for constructing installations, business meetings etc) and technology user groups (such as the largest Flash user group in North America (FlashinTO) and PHUG Open Source Culture). We also offer financially accessible training and lectures to students at a 50% discount.
